Tue, 7th Dec 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

The hardware, software and professional services solution aims to simplify and improve the way information is backed up, archived and retrieved, delivering improved operational efficiency and cost savings for the Defence Force.

EMC will expand the Defence Force’s existing data storage capability and improve its current data backup environment. EMC’s Data Domain de-duplication platform will become the enterprise repository for backup and archive data.

The solution is said to streamline the backup processes, while the de-duplication capability will reduce the time, cost and space involved in storing backup and archive data.

EMC Country Manager Robin Whitaker said that EMC has a lot to offer the Defence Force.

“This is a large contract and a strategic win for EMC,” he said. “It illustrates how robust, broad and flexible our solutions are. The nature of this client meant there were some unique and specific operational challenges that had to be overcome. So that’s what we did.”

EMC will work with local partner iData Resolutions, who will form part of the professional services team that will design and implement the Defence Force solution.
