Enable enlists Transfield for Christchurch UFB
Wed, 1st Jun 2011
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Enable Networks has awarded a contract to Transfield Services to be its civil construction partner for Christchurch’s Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) network.  The work will be  undertaken under Enable's contract with the Government for UFB roll-out. At $260m over 10 years, the contract with Transfield will be a key part of Enable’s UFB project. Under the contract, Transfield Services will assist in the design, construction and maintenance of the fibre optic network. "Transfield Services has extensive experience and expertise to contribute to the rollout of this important infrastructure development," said Enable general manager John Humm. "As a locally owned Christchurch company it was important to Enable that this contract offered employment opportunities for local companies and people. Transfield Services is committed to using local resources and this is expected to create many new jobs and contracting roles."

Last week Enable was awarded the Government contract to construct an ultra-fast broadband fibre network to 180,000 premises in Christchurch, Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Woodend, Lincoln, Prebbleton and Rolleston.
