Enlighten Designs has reached the Select tier in Anthropic's Claude Partner Network Services Track, becoming the first business in New Zealand to secure a Claude partnership.

The designation places the Hamilton-based technology consultancy in Anthropic's services ecosystem for organisations deploying Claude in operational settings for customers. Within the network, partners progress through Select, Preferred and Global Premier levels.

Anthropic uses the Services Track to recognise firms that have built certified delivery teams, completed client work using Claude and provided public customer references. For Enlighten Designs, the status reflects both its staff's internal use of Claude and client deployments with New Zealand organisations.

The consultancy's work focuses on three areas: helping employees use Claude in day-to-day work, supporting software teams using Claude and related agentic tools in development tasks, and integrating Claude into applications built for clients.

Moving into production

The announcement comes as many businesses continue to test generative artificial intelligence tools without moving them into routine operations. Enlighten Designs argued that, for many business, IT and software leaders, the main barrier is not initial interest but implementation within existing teams and systems.

Enlighten Designs said it changed how its own staff used Claude before offering similar approaches to clients. Its team includes Anthropic-certified practitioners, and the Select tier gives it access to partner training and technical support from Anthropic.

One public example cited by the consultancy involves Hamilton & Waikato Tourism. In that project, a Digital Marketing Lead used a dedicated Claude setup to help draft and proofread newsletters for different audiences, while keeping human review and approval before publication.

According to Enlighten Designs, the approach reduced drafting and proofreading time from about four hours to around 30 minutes for each newsletter, freeing up more time for other digital marketing work.

"The Select tier in the Claude Partner Network recognises that we've put Claude into production for clients, and that we did it with our own team first. For New Zealand organisations, it means there's now a Select-tier Claude partner who understands how they work," said Damon Kelly, Chief Executive Officer, Enlighten Designs.

Growing services market

The wider market for artificial intelligence services in New Zealand has drawn growing interest from consultancies, software providers and global model developers seeking local delivery partners. Partnerships with model companies have become one way for service firms to demonstrate certified expertise and gain access to vendor support, particularly as customers demand stronger governance and clearer evidence of practical results.

For local organisations, that has also sharpened the distinction between experimentation and implementation. While many teams have tried chatbots and drafting tools, fewer have integrated them into formal workflows tied to measurable business outcomes.

Enlighten Designs positioned its Claude work around that gap, focusing on practical use within existing business processes rather than isolated testing. It said this includes the people and data work needed to make artificial intelligence tools useful inside organisations.

Operational challenges

Kelly described the challenge in operational terms. "Most organisations we talk to have already seen AI work in a demo. The hard part is getting it into the daily work of a real team, safely, and in a way you can measure," he added.
