Ericsson unveils Cradlepoint X20 5G Router for enterprises

Today

Ericsson has launched the Cradlepoint X20 5G Router, designed to deliver enterprise-class fixed wireless access (FWA) connectivity solutions for various business environments.

The Cradlepoint X20 offers plug-and-play FWA 5G connectivity with advanced network slicing and security features. Enhanced by state-of-the-art routing, switching, and Wi-Fi 7 capabilities, the device promises robust, easy-to-maintain connectivity critical for business operations. The router aims to facilitate quick deployment of high-bandwidth 5G connectivity and ensures reliability with dual-SIM failover capabilities alongside an 8-hour battery backup.

This new development allows providers to offer managed services through tiered packages catering to diverse business needs. Justin Blair, Vice President of Carrier Business Development, Americas, Enterprises Wireless Solutions at Ericsson, said, "This announcement is yet another example of how Ericsson continues to enable service providers to offer highly differentiated FWA solutions to business customers while monetising their 5G network investments. The X20 puts service providers in a much better position to support various business environments."

The capabilities of the Cradlepoint X20 Router extend to small-to-medium-sized businesses (SMBs), temporary sites, and remote workers. SMBs like retail stores and small offices can benefit from reliable, high-speed connectivity without traditional wired infrastructure. The ease of installation and scalability allows businesses to adjust as they grow.

For temporary sites like pop-up stores, mobile clinics, and construction sites, the X20 supports rapid deployment and flexibility, maintaining essential operations with high-speed 5G connectivity, even in fluctuating environments. It is also ideal for remote workers and home-based businesses, providing portable and high-speed internet for easy access to cloud applications, video calls, and collaborative tools.

Nathan McGregor, Senior Vice President of Asia Pacific, Enterprise Wireless Solutions at Ericsson, commented, "With over 96% of businesses in Australia and New Zealand being SMBs, there is a significant opportunity for service providers to offer connectivity solutions that can meet the needs of these businesses. The Ericsson Cradlepoint X20 5G Router is another great tool for Australian and New Zealand service providers to offer their customers Day-1 connectivity or ongoing fixed wireless connectivity as an affordable solution that enables businesses to take advantage of network slicing."

According to IDC reports, by 2026, 75% of enterprises are expected to entrust deployment responsibility, operational control, and technology innovation for at least one major network domain to a trusted management partner. With the features provided by the Cradlepoint X20, service providers can better differentiate themselves in the expanding market, offering solutions that adapt to their customers' evolving digital demands.

The Ericsson Cradlepoint X20 5G Router will be available from April 2025, targeting enterprises seeking to deliver adaptable, enterprise-class connectivity in various business scenarios.
