Ex-Google exec becomes first Facebook CMO
Tapping into the Google talent pool, Facebook has appointed Gary Briggs as the company's first chief marketing officer.
The former Motorola Mobility adviser, Briggs joins the social networking company in a bid to expand the Facebook brand on a global scale.
Taking over duties previously assigned to product marketing figure Eric Antonow, Briggs was also vice president of consumer marketing at Google, with previous roles at companies eBay and PayPal.
"Telling the story of such an important and still very young brand is an incredible opportunity, and I cannot wait to get started," Briggs said.
Announcing the appointment via an official company email, Briggs continued: "Facebook isn't just a company.
"For more than a billion people, it's their connection to the friends and things they care about most."
