Ex Nokia boss takes share in Turnstone
The former head of Nokia in Australia, Rob Gill, has taken a 50% share in local IP voice and data services company Turnstone.Gill was managing director for Nokia in Australia and area general manager for Nokia Networks Pacific region in the late 1990s. He returned to New Zealand in 2000 for health reasons and became sales and marketing director Asia Pacific for Nokia Broadband Networks. He later founded consulting firm Tresco Limited. Gill is currently a director of several private companies in New Zealand, including Tait Electronics and Mobile Mentor. Turnstone provide managed services to companies of between 30-300 staff. It has seven employees and its other major shareholder is founder Barbara Smith. The company was launched in 2007 by then Opposition leader John Key.
