Extreme Networks unveils Extreme Labs innovation hub

Fri, 26th Apr 2024

Extreme Networks has unveiled Extreme Labs, a dynamic hub designed for the research, development, and innovation of pioneering technologies. The initiative is intended to showcase avenues for technology advancement as they edge closer to market readiness.

Extreme Labs is an ecosystem underpinned by creativity, collaboration, and state-of-the-art technology. These elements come together to stimulate the innovation of early-stage technologies. A singular facet of Extreme Labs' transparency is the demonstration of the company's prioritisation of technology development with significant market impact. To this end, Extreme Networks is cooperating with Living Tomorrow to mutually advance and design groundbreaking products forecasted to be widely adopted by 2030.

The premier offering from Extreme Labs, Extreme AI Expert, was recently previewed. Building on Extreme's dedication to AI beyond its ExtremeCloud IQ CoPilot AIOps solution, Extreme AI Expert presents as a Generative AI tool that provides substantial optimisations and cost savings in the design, implementation and management of enterprise networking and security. Extreme AI Expert diverges from solutions that confine and compartmentalise data and knowledge by proactively combining public data with customers' private data. The system thereby makes use of the resultant insights to create proactive recommendations, significantly aiding customers in rapidly uncovering information and resolving issues across their networking environment.

In the future, Extreme AI Expert is slated to offer numerous benefits, including:

1. Acting as an expert on Extreme products and services to help work faster and smarter by smoothly accessing rich data from hundreds of thousands of source documents translated into several languages. Data will be collated from a blend of Extreme's public repository, knowledge base, and Global Technical Assistance Centre (GTAC) documentation.

2. Utilising data from the network and beyond to enhance performance and operational efficiency by combining data from applications and devices across the network to establish intelligence on performance and experience. The system will curate enterprise data to provide insights, automate operations and send alerts when it detects anomalies like network overload, degradation or Wi-Fi dead spots, among others.

3. Translating insights into expertise and action by recommending preventative actions and network optimisations based on business KPIs. Extreme AI Expert will generate suggestions and best practices to troubleshoot, resolve or proactively address issues.

"With Extreme Labs, we're not just pushing boundaries; we're rewriting them and redefining norms. We embody the ethos of simplifying networking and challenging conventions," said Nabil Bukhari, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Extreme Networks. "Extreme AI Expert is just another example of how we create best-in-class technology that empowers customers to drive impactful outcomes."

While currently in tech preview, Extreme Networks expects to integrate Extreme AI Expert into its solutions later this year.
