Facebook to launch Timeline for brands?
Fri, 17th Feb 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Brand pages on Facebook could start being updated to the new Timeline layout as early as next month, meaning businesses may need to start re-thinking the way they present themselves on the giant social network.

According to a report in Ad Age, Facebook will announce Timeline for brands at its fMC marketing conference, being held on February 29 in New York.

Citing ‘executives briefed on the company’s plans’, the report says the new Timeline pages will start rolling out in beta to ‘a handful of partners’ before being released to more businesses in stages.

As with Timeline for public users, businesses will need to review their history on the site, tinkering with posts to make sure their brand’s presentation is in line with overall strategy.

It may also be possible to ‘fill in’ events from before the business joined Facebook, possibly dating right back to when the business was founded.

Key presentations from the fMC conference will be livestreamed online; go here for more.
