FYI, this story is more than a year old

G2, the world's largest B2B tech marketplace for software and services, has announced its Best Software Companies from Australia and New Zealand rankings, following the opening of a new office in APAC.

Australian-based software companies saw A$3.1 billion in venture investments in 2018 and this number is expected to grow in 2019.

This latest list was determined by identifying 107 software vendors either based in or founded in Australia or New Zealand.

G2 scores products and vendors based on reviews gathered from the user community, as well as data aggregated from online sources and social networks. It applies a unique algorithm to this data to calculate the customer Satisfaction and Market Presence scores in real-time.

“Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) has helped companies around the world easily tap into world-class software. It's also enabled software companies, no matter where they are located, compete globally from day one,” says G2 Asia Pacific vice president Chris Perrine in a blog post.

“This is especially true for Australia - New Zealand (ANZ) based software companies. Australia saw A$3.1 billion in venture investments in 2018 and this number is expected to grow in 2019. Venture capital expects high growth and with Australia and New Zealand having smaller domestic markets, many of these vendors quickly look to global markets for growth. Software companies like Atlassian, Xero, Canva, and Deputy have become global powerhouses with market valuations in the billions.

“If you are in ANZ and you talk about tech, you almost always hear about these local heroes. They are amazing homegrown success stories, and they are now being joined by a new tier of ANZ software companies that are performing incredibly well on the global stage. When G2 analyzed our reviews, we identified companies like Cascade Strategy, AskNicely, SafetyCulture, PushPay, Qwirl, and Autopilot that all had high global satisfaction ratings.
