Gen-i wins Westpac data centre deal

Gen-i has won a multi-million dollar deal to provide data center facilities for Westpac.

The Telecom subsidiary will design, deliver and support the new data center, to be located at its Tier 3 facility in Auckland and due to go live in early 2012.

Gen-i already integrates and manages Westpac's access to voice and data network services in New Zealand.

The deal is the latest in a series of multi-million dollar data center wins for Gen-i, including the displacing of IBM as Air New Zealand's primary data center provider.

Westpac general manager for customer and technology services, Jim Stabback, says the move to Gen-i's facility will ensure the bank has its IT securely hosted in the most resilient building available, with levels of network scale, interconnection and energy efficiencies 'unmatched' in New Zealand.
