Gigamon appoints new Asia-Pacific leaders to drive cloud security

Yesterday

Gigamon has announced the appointment of two new leaders for the Asia-Pacific region amid increasing demand for deep observability solutions across key markets such as Australia, Japan, Korea, India, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia.

David Land joins the company as Vice President of Sales, APAC, and will operate from Sydney, while Nikolas Kalogirou has been named Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), working from Melbourne. Land will report to Chief Revenue Officer John Giacomini and oversee the APAC sales and channel teams. Kalogirou will report to Land.

The appointments come at a time when organisations across APAC are contending with a complex digital landscape, increasingly impacted by artificial intelligence and hybrid cloud infrastructure, according to the company. In the Gigamon 2024 Hybrid Cloud Security Survey, 87 percent of Singaporean and 83 percent of Australian security and IT leaders said that deep observability is a foundational element of cloud security.

The Gigamon Deep Observability Pipeline is designed to help organisations secure and manage hybrid cloud infrastructure by delivering network-derived telemetry directly to cloud, security, and traditional observability tools. This approach aims to reduce blind spots, optimise network traffic, and enhance the efficiency of existing tools by up to 90 percent.

The expanded leadership team will prioritise strengthening the Gigamon channel ecosystem, improving customer outcomes, and supporting the delivery of observability across hybrid and multi-cloud environments throughout the region.

David Land brings over 20 years of experience in enterprise sales and leadership. Most recently, he served as Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan at Fortra, where he was responsible for revenue growth and the development of the company's partner ecosystem. Land has previously been recognised for building high-performing global sales organisations and scaling businesses within cybersecurity and enterprise IT sectors.

Nikolas Kalogirou, based in Melbourne, brings more than two decades of experience in enterprise technology sales and management to his new role as Country Manager for ANZ. He has previously held leadership positions at companies including Recorded Future, BlackBerry, Cofense, and Fraudwatch International, with a strong background in cybersecurity and enterprise technology.

Chief Revenue Officer John Giacomini commented on the new appointments, stating: "Welcoming David and Nik to the team reflects our deepening commitment to customers and partners across the fast-growing APAC region. Both are seasoned leaders with deep domain knowledge and local market insight, and I'm confident they will play a key role in advancing our growth strategy in the months and years ahead. Their cybersecurity expertise will be essential in delivering meaningful outcomes for customers seeking to better secure and manage their hybrid cloud infrastructure."

Gigamon's Deep Observability Pipeline is positioned as a solution to deliver network telemetry to various security and cloud tools, supporting organisations in reducing blind spots and managing hybrid cloud environments. The company reports that it has served more than 4,000 customers globally, which includes more than 80 percent of Fortune 100 enterprises, nine of the ten largest mobile network providers, as well as numerous government and educational entities.
