Globant unveils AI tool with Google Cloud for video search

Wed, 9th Oct 2024

Globant has announced the release of its new AI-powered Advanced Video Search (AVS) tool, which utilises Google Cloud's Gemini models.

This tool is set to change how media companies, sports organisations, and enterprises manage video content, as it allows instant search for specific clips, images, and moments within large video libraries, significantly reducing manual efforts. Traditional methods often require substantial effort from teams to identify significant footage, but the AVS tool automates this process.

Diego Tártara, Chief Technology Officer at Globant, stated, "As generative AI continues to redefine search capabilities, Globant expects Advanced Video Search to play a pivotal role in how enterprises and media companies leverage and manage video content. With video rapidly overtaking text as the primary medium for information consumption, tools like AVS are set to redefine how we interact with video content – whether for entertainment, education or commerce."

The AVS tool is not limited to just searching; it also aids in advertising and product placement by allowing advertisers to choose contextually relevant moments for advertisements. For example, upbeat ads can be avoided during emotional movie scenes. Additionally, the tool tracks the appearance of specific logos or trademarks on screen, assisting with brand visibility and sponsorship analysis.

Diego Fernandez Brihuega, SVP & Technology Lead for Globant's Google Cloud Studio, emphasised the tool's additional benefits stating, "Our Advanced Video Search solution is more than just a search tool; it's an engine for unlocking value from video archives, drastically improving their value, boosting the efficiency of workflows, and enabling precise, contextualized content delivery."

The AVS tool also finds applications in the field of training and education. Users can quickly locate specific segments within extensive corporate training videos or educational content without needing to watch the entire video.

Albert Lai, Global Director for Media & Entertainment at Google Cloud, highlighted the collaboration between Globant and Google Cloud, saying, "Media & Entertainment companies face mounting challenges – rising consumer expectations, escalating content creation costs, and the need to adapt their business models to an ever-changing landscape. Globant's AVS solution combines the power of Google Cloud's enterprise AI platform and Gemini models with Globant's deep digital implementation expertise. This isn't simply about technology – it's a clear demonstration of how AI and innovation can be harnessed to tackle industry-specific hurdles and deliver tangible business results for customers worldwide."

The tool also leverages unique capabilities provided by a custom-developed model and Gemini large language model (LLM), offering broad knowledge and customised content layers suited to diverse industry needs in video processing and monetisation.

Globant has collaborated closely with Google Cloud to bring this tool to market, drawing on the expertise of Google Cloud-certified engineers globally. The establishment of Globant's Google Cloud Studio further demonstrates this commitment, housing a team of experts with comprehensive knowledge of Google Cloud products.

The AVS solution is available for implementation across various industries, marking another step in Globant's collaboration with Google Cloud as they together address industry-specific challenges with advanced technological solutions.
