HCLTech has signed a Global Premier Partnership with Anthropic focused on the use of Agentic AI in large enterprises.

Under the agreement, HCLTech will create a dedicated Anthropic Business Unit and a Centre of Excellence, while HCLSoftware will add Anthropic's Claude and Claude Code to selected software products.

The partnership targets enterprise customers seeking broader use of AI systems with controls for safety, cybersecurity and governance. HCLTech also plans to integrate Anthropic's technology into its AI Force platform for software engineering and support work.

HCLTech's services teams will develop industry offerings based on Claude, Cowork and Claude Code. The new business unit and center will also provide secure sandbox environments for enterprise deployments of Claude through FDEs.

The deal also covers internal and organisational changes for clients adopting AI-led tools. HCLTech will help customers introduce AI-native engineering practices, train staff and build the structures needed to run Agentic AI systems across large organisations.

At its software arm, HCLSoftware has become an Anthropic ISV partner. This will allow it to embed Claude features and use advanced models in selected products spanning cybersecurity, automation, business process software and application development.

Named products include HCL BigFix and HCL AppScan, and the partnership will also support Actian AI Analyst. HCLTech added that Claude and Claude Code will be used in AI Force for tasks including IT support, code remediation and digital employee services.

These workflows will include policy guardrails, exception handling and human oversight for higher-impact changes. The controls reflect a broader push by technology suppliers to reassure large companies that AI systems can be deployed in sensitive operational environments without losing managerial oversight.

Enterprise push

The tie-up gives HCLTech another route into a market where large service providers and software vendors are competing to package generative and agent-based AI tools for corporate use. Demand has increasingly shifted from trials and pilot projects towards integration with existing systems, internal controls and workforce processes.

For Anthropic, the agreement expands its reach through a global services company with a large installed base in sectors including banking, healthcare, telecoms and manufacturing. HCLTech said it has more than 223,000 employees across 60 countries and reported revenue of USD $14.8 billion for the 12 months to June 2026.

The partnership also reflects a wider pattern in the AI market: model developers are seeking distribution through consulting groups and software companies, while those partners are looking to differentiate themselves by combining models with implementation services, governance processes and product integration.

One practical feature of the agreement is the split between services and software. HCLTech's services teams will handle deployments and customer-facing solutions, while HCLSoftware will build Anthropic's tools into products used by enterprise customers in operations, security and development workflows.

That structure may help HCLTech offer customers a broader package than a pure consulting arrangement. By combining implementation work with embedded software products, the group can reach both clients seeking bespoke deployments and those looking for packaged tools within existing enterprise software estates.

Daniela Amodei, Co-founder and President, Anthropic, said: "AI can only be as useful as it is trustworthy, and we build Claude to give companies the confidence to bring it into their most sensitive and valuable work. HCLTech manages those kinds of systems for banks, hospitals, telecom companies and manufacturers, and we're excited to partner with them as they integrate Claude and Claude Code. This partnership - and our broader commitment to advancing capability and safety together - is how AI will change the way entire industries run for the better."

The arrangement builds on HCLTech's existing work across engineering, data, cloud and software, with the goal of helping clients move from AI experimentation to wider enterprise deployment.

C Vijayakumar, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, HCLTech, said: "Few technology companies combine the scale of a global systems integrator with the product depth of an ISV. That gives us a rare advantage to securely engineer and deploy Agentic AI at scale and deliver the business outcomes that matter most to our clients. Our partnership with Anthropic further strengthens our capabilities to achieve the same."
