High-paying jobs on the rise

Tue, 4th Oct 2011
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Listings for jobs boasting six-figure salaries are up by almost a third in the past year, and the IT industry is leading the charge.

Employment website Seek has seen a 30% increase in the number of jobs worth over $100,000, and is launching a dedicated section for high earners to take advantage of the trend.

Janet Faulding, general manager of Seek New Zealand, says the roles are spread across a wide range of industries, although the IT sector is the leader.

"It's great to see $100k-plus listings continuing to grow," Faulding says, "and we're confident that the new direct route to these top jobs will prove popular in the executive job market.

Auckland has experienced a 25% increase in $100k-plus jobs in the past year, while in Canterbury jobs in the high pay bracket have risen by 125%, reflecting the demand for skilled workers as part of the region's rebuild.
