FYI, this story is more than a year old

Hitachi Data Systems has hired industry veteran and former Pulsant director of professional services Todd Whaley, as he takes up the new position of services director for Australia and New Zealand.

Whaley will be in charge of using his 30 years' IT experience to push Hitachi Data Systems into a new phase of development. He will work with enterprises to accelerate their digital transformation through consumption-based and as-a-service IT models.

He will also manage local service delivery teams through their own transformation journeys to as-a-service, particularly to support client strategies for smart data centers and IoT.

We're extremely pleased to welcome Todd to the team, to grow and expand our services division as a significant value proposition to customers, building on our excellent reputation for enterprise grade solutions and service delivery,” comments Hitachi Data Systems ANZ VP Nathan McGregor.

“He brings extensive industry experience, people skills and leadership qualities to the role to further drive the innovation of our service offerings as a critical pillar of our customers' digital transformation journey. He will also deepen our commitment to customer centricity and excellence.

Whaley previously worked at managed cloud hosting provider Pulsant. He has also worked across Europe, the UK and New Zealand.

Earlier this year Hitachi Data Systems CTO Russell Skingsley mentioned that Hitachi Data Systems itself is also changing.

“It's fair to say that HDS themselves are going through a significant transformation, going away from basic storage and more towards being able to provide our customers with an overall data strategy to help them with their digital transformation,” he said at the time.

“It's really a story that is very well received with most of our customers across APAC, customers who I consider to be traditional HDS customers are all looking at the need to significantly transform.

He said New Zealand was on the cutting edge of technology compared to the rest of Asia Pacific.

In February, the company boosted its ANZ channel team with four new team members.

“The Australia and New Zealand region is well documented to have one of the most mature cloud markets in the world. I'm pleased to join Hitachi Data Systems, who have embraced the shift to consumption-based IT models early on in ANZ, and

Commenting on his appointment as ANZ services director, Whaley says he is excited.

“I feel excited about the opportunities that stem from being part of Hitachi, an industry leader with deep and long-standing expertise in data, operational technology (OT), IT and IoT. We see strong upside as enterprises entrust service delivery to the right business partner in this new era of digital transformation,” he concludes.
