Homhero names ex-Shopify executive Wilkowski as CTO in ANZ

Homhero has appointed former Shopify executive Dominik Wilkowski as Chief Technology Officer, expanding the leadership team at the Gold Coast-based property management software company.

Based at Homhero's headquarters, Wilkowski will lead technical strategy, infrastructure and the growth of the development team. The appointment comes as the business expands across Australia and New Zealand in software for short-term rental property managers.

Leadership appointment

Before joining Homhero, Wilkowski was a senior development manager at Shopify, where he led a distributed team of more than 200 developers across Australia, North America and Europe. Earlier roles in banking and government technology gave him experience across software, platform strategy and engineering management.

At Shopify, he worked on API consolidation projects and changes to third-party systems aimed at improving reliability and security. He also led the delivery of a new design language for Shopify's core product over 12 weeks while maintaining 99.9% system uptime.

Short Term Rental Accommodation Software

Homhero sells property management and channel management software for the short-term rental sector in Australia and New Zealand. Its platform is used by holiday home portfolio managers and includes trust accounting, guest communication and multi-channel distribution.

The appointment is part of a broader effort to strengthen Homhero's development operation. Wilkowski has experience hiring and mentoring senior technical staff, including principal engineers and delivery managers, as the company builds out its product roadmap.

His background in design systems from roles at Westpac and Shopify is also expected to inform work on the company's software interface and user experience. His experience reducing technical debt and improving delivery predictability is expected to support the rollout of new features while maintaining platform stability.

Local presence

Wilkowski has been a long-term Gold Coast resident and will work from the office full-time. That local presence stands out for a Queensland technology business seeking senior leadership with experience at a large international software company.

Market demands

Homhero operates in a specialist software market serving property managers with large numbers of short-term rental listings. Businesses in that segment typically need systems that combine operational tools with distribution across booking channels, while also handling accounting and customer communication.

Wilkowski is also described as an active member of the technical community, including as organiser of the Brisbane Rust meetup. His programming background includes systems work in Rust and development in TypeScript, Node and AWS, alongside executive management experience.

Homhero's software manages tens of thousands of holiday home listings. Wilkowski's remit will focus on ensuring the platform continues to offer market-leading capabilities in an increasingly complex operational environment, serving property managers across Australia and New Zealand.
