Honeywell launches Data Center Suite for business outcomes

Wed, 14th Sep 2022
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Honeywell has launched its Data Center Suite, a portfolio of outcome-based software offerings to help data centre managers and owners.

The company's latest product range is designed to get the most out of uptime, foster greater productivity among workers, and optimise critical asset health and operation expenses while providing improved visibility into sustainability KPIs.

Honeywell notes that data centres are increasingly crucial in keeping the global economy productive.

In addition, they are supporting conveniences in daily home life, whether working remotely or shopping online.

Honeywell Data Center Suite will digitalise, collect and analyse different critical systems into a unified data lake, giving operators more holistic, actionable information to assist them in increasing efficiency while decreasing cost.

The new offering is based on the open architecture Niagara Framework and combines data from both OT and IT infrastructure.

Honeywell notes that this securely enhances situational awareness at the site and global fleet levels, allowing condition-based maintenance to minimise downtime risk and operational expenses.

The growing demand has seen hyperscale operators planning to build 314 new facilities as of April this year, with data centre managers forced to do more with less while simultaneously being pressured to improve uptime, bring down costs and consume as little energy as possible.

Citing research from the Uptime Institute, Honeywell adds that user-friendly tools that automate processes can help reduce the chance of human error, a problem that has caused significant outages over the last three years among 40% of organisations surveyed.

Honeywell says, according to the research, that human error in these instances is largely due to ignored or inadequate procedures and that using automation tools can help to improve a data centre's overall efficiency.

"Demand for data storage, transfer and processing is insatiable worldwide, which makes it more challenging than ever to run and scale these facilities effectively from a design, build and operations perspective," said Chris McLaughlin, Offering Management Vice President, Honeywell Building Technologies.

"Honeywell is expanding its offerings in data centres to allow facility managers to derive actionable insights securely from their own data to help protect uptime, manage maintenance, reduce energy use and achieve scaling agility."

The Honeywell Data Center Suite's tools include:

Data Center Manager

This offering integrates and delivers situational site-level awareness of both OT (critical power and thermal assets) and essential IT assets data in a vendor-agnostic dashboard.

Portfolio View

This tool allows data centre owners to monitor global network operations holistically via its on-premise capability across a fleet of data centres and make data-driven decisions to better achieve their uptime and sustainability goals.

Honeywell Forge Digitized Maintenance

This software-as-a-service solution monitors data centre assets and detects early signs of abnormal intrinsic operations before it leads to potentially costly downtime.
