FYI, this story is more than a year old

HP has claimed the top spot in the latest Gartner Magic Quadrant Report for MFPs and Printers report.

Gartner says that software, vertical solutions and service integration are playing a bigger role in the purchasing decisions of office printers and multifunction products.

"The traditional speeds and feeds for typical office printing … have given way to the hardware’s ability to integrate and deploy software applications that connect them to the company’s document management systems," it said. "Remote monitoring capabilities, diagnostics, security and other factors are becoming the true differentiators.”

HP recently introduced a web-enabled printer that allows users to print from anywhere without a PC.

“We continue to make significant investments in our MFPs to deliver the best in the industry for our customers,” said Ron Coughlin, senior vice president, LaserJet Enterprise Solutions, Imaging and Printing Group, HP. “The fact that leading analysts firms recognise HP year after year reflects our endless focus and dedication in addressing our customers’ evolving and unique needs.”
