HTC clarifies Windows Phone 7 plans

Thu, 14th Oct 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Earlier in the week, during the rush of announcements over the launch of Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7, HTC said its HD7 device would be available in New Zealand via Telecom.

The company has since retracted that statement.

“Please note a correction to the global HTC press release – ‘HTC Goes Big With Microsoft; Launching Five New Windows Phone 7 Smartphones’ that went live on October 11 on the HTC Global website,” the company said.

“At this point, the HTC HD7 will not be available with Telecom New Zealand, this device will only be exclusively available with Telstra in Australia.”

HTC wouldn't say why the phone has been pulled from New Zealand.

When asked if there were any plans at all for a launch in New Zealand, HTC replied, “This device will not at this stage be launching in New Zealand.”
