Huawei’s ‘Telepresence 2.0’
Wed, 16th Nov 2011
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Huawei has used the Gartner Symposium ITxpo currently taking place on Australia’s Gold Coast to unveil its latest telepresence system, which it calls Telepresence 2.0.

The system offers 30% lower bandwidth consumption than the industry average, Huawei says, with full HD 1080p and surround sound.

According to Gavin Milton-White, Huawei Australia enterprise general manager, telepresence has been held back in this region for three main reasons: affordability, connectivity, and interoperability.

"Huawei Telepresence 2.0 changes all that,” Milton-White says.

As well as being cheaper and more efficient, the system is based on open standards, meaning it will integrate with other technologies.

"Enterprises can now finally invest in Telepresence without worrying that they’ll end up locked into a single vendor’s orphaned technology,” Milton-White says.
