Improvement in communication technology to aid FTTx tester market: FMI

Mon, 26th Jun 2023
FYI, this story is more than a year old

The global FTTx tester demand is anticipated to be valued at US$13.9 billion in 2022, forecasted to grow at a CAGR of 7% to US$27.34 billion from 2022 to 2032. The growing demand for high-speed internet and increasing broadband subscriptions is surging the adoption of FTTx and significantly creating a vast global demand for the FTTx tester market.

These insights are based on a report on the FTTx tester market by Future Market Insights (FMI).

Fibre to the x (FTTx) is the broadband network architecture used for communication through optical fibre. Optical fibre cables are capable of carrying much more data when compared to traditionally-used copper wires.

Fibre to the premises (FTTP) is the optical distribution network from the central office to the premises.

FTTP is categorized into fibre-to-home (FTTH) and fibre-to-building (FTTB).

Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) is a fibre-based telecommunication that serves multiple customers. With the growing demand for high-speed broadband and continuous infrastructural developments, the FTTx tester market is expected to have a huge demand during the forecast period.

"Gigabit products and 4k TV are fuelling the FTTx tester market. FTTx and FTTx tester are supplier-driven markets. Companies are launching multiple innovative products using FTTx, which, in turn, creates the demand for FTTx testers. Multiple gigabit products were launched in the last few years using fibre," says FMI in its report.

"In Singapore, FTTx has been available since 2012. Still, not much commercial push or demand from the customers was witnessed. In 2014, two companies, MyRepublic and MI, launched gigabit broadband. This new launch, in turn, caused two other players, StarHub and SingTel, to respond with equivalent gigabit broadband products.

The market in Singapore is moving towards multi-gigabit products. This continuous development is expected to fuel the global FTTx tester market during the forecast period.

Vendors offer various FTTx testers such as optical time domain reflect meters, fibre identifiers, loss testing kits, fault locators, inspection and cleaning, and others.

Several developments in fibre technology, regarding FTTx, along with the proliferating growth rate of the market and the recent developments and innovations in FTTx tester, are expected to drive the global FTTx tester market significantly during the forecast period.

The challenges associated with the growth of the FTTx tester market are limited availability of supporting infrastructure in developing countries and moderate demand from customer end in these developing regions are expected to restrain the FTTx tester market growth during the forecast period.

According to FMI, North America is expected to hold a maximum market share in the global FTTx tester because of technological advancements and high adoption. Growing demand for higher bandwidth and rising use of optical fibre in mobile back-haul is projected to drive the fibre to the X market over the predicted years.

"Europe is expected to follow North America, and Asia Pacific is expected to grow considerably faster during the forecast period due to the continuous developments in infrastructure and technology advancements. The increasing demand for high-speed internet connection, IPTV, over-the-top services, communication services, and others are significantly driving the global FTTx tester market. The increasing adoption of fibre is one of the prominent factors for the growth of the global FTTx tester market," add researchers at FMI.

"Currently, the market is considered competitive, with continuous product and technology developments by established as well as new players. Some of the key players in the FTTx tester market are AFL, AD-net Technology, Anritsu, Exfo, Kingfisher International, VeEX, 3 Edge, Shanghai Tarluz Telecom, and others."

"Attributed to the presence of such a high number of participants, the market is highly competitive. FTTx tester market report also contains projections using a suitable set of assumptions and methodologies. Global FTTx tester research report provides analysis and information according to market segments such as geographies, applications, and industries. Globally, the FTTx tester market is expected to be fragmented in nature owing to the presence of numerous players in the local as well as global markets," FMI concludes.
