Infovista unveils GenAI initiative to boost 5G CSP monetisation

Thu, 30th May 2024

Infovista has revealed details of a new collaborative initiative aimed at aiding Communication Service Providers (CSPs) in monetising their 5G networks. The project, ‘Holistic intelligence & GenAI to accelerate 5G monetisation,’ forms part of the TM Forum’s Catalyst programme and seeks to demonstrate how CSPs can leverage Service Level Agreement (SLA) guaranteed business-to-business (B2B) services to secure new revenue streams. The project will be showcased at this year’s Digital Transformation World (DTW24) event in Copenhagen.

The initiative brings together a diverse group of global CSPs and enterprises. Participants include BT Group, Telecom Italia, Zain KSA, Telus, Econet Wireless, and the Italian utility Bludigit. The solution, which is powered by Generative AI (GenAI) and machine learning, automates processes across the service lifecycle management. This implementation aims to transform incident management, streamline service provisioning, and empower enterprises through self-service portals, simplifying operations and enhancing customer experiences.

Notably, the project includes key vendors such as AWS, BMC, Infovista, Intracom Telecom, Netcracker, Proadapt and TTA. Each participant brings valuable expertise and innovation to the table, reflecting the collaborative spirit of the Catalyst programme.

Renata da Silva, Vice President of Product Marketing at Infovista, commented on the complexity CSPs face when monetising their network B2B services. She highlighted the necessity for high observability and automation to empower enterprises to operate their services autonomously while allowing CSPs to maintain control over SLAs and business priorities. Renata emphasised that leveraging current technological advancements, such as GenAI and closed-loop systems, can significantly enhance service quality for enterprise customers.

This project allows CSPs to differentiate their offerings, delivering unparalleled services and SLA guarantees, thereby staying ahead of the competition and unlocking new revenue opportunities. For enterprises, this approach provides the ability to acquire advanced services that accelerate their digital transformation, with enhanced observability and automation.

Supporters of the project have shared their insights and enthusiasm. Vivian Chaitezvi, Manager of Services and Support Systems Planning at Econet Wireless, spoke about the challenges of achieving comprehensive visibility across various network technologies, including both legacy and modern systems. She believes holistic observability is crucial for driving transformation through automation and predictive analytics.

Massimo Banzi, Innovation Manager at Telecom Italia, elaborated on the pivotal role GenAI plays in enhancing customer experience and empowering operations. He noted that leveraging historical data delivers predictive insights, enabling proactive resolution of issues. Collaborating closely with customers allows for tailored service offerings, benefiting both innovation and operational efficiency.

Telus's Dr Ali Tizgham highlighted the benefits of better handling network and service level issues, which helps in reducing churn and increasing customers' likelihood to recommend services. According to Tizgham, transforming data into predictive analytics is paving the way for self-driving networks that are self-healing, self-optimising, and self-configuring.

From Zain KSA, Farhan Ahmed Hashmi and Ahmed Omer Ahmed spoke about optimising service delivery and improving customer experience through automation and GenAI. They emphasised the value of customer portals in accelerating 5G investment monetisation and achieving operational agility, resulting in higher profits.

The DTW Ignite event, featuring this Catalyst programme, is set to take place from 18-20 June 2024 in Copenhagen. The programme is designed to showcase the collaborative work of TM Forum's members, highlighting innovative solutions and industry advancements. The collaborative efforts of global CSPs and enterprises underline the importance of leveraging emerging technologies to stay competitive and deliver value to customers.
