Intel expands AI PC portfolio with Core Ultra launch

Today

Intel has announced the expansion of its Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) AI PC commercial portfolio.

The new lineup, which includes the Intel Core Ultra 200U, 200H, 200HX, and 200S series processors along with the Intel Core Ultra 200V series, offers comprehensive solutions across desktop and mobile form factors. The series promises to deliver enhanced compute performance, power efficiency, connectivity, security, and manageability for businesses globally.

David Feng, Vice President of the Client Computing Group and General Manager of Client Segments at Intel, stated, "2025 is a pivotal year for PC refresh, and with Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) processors, we're delivering the most advanced commercial systems to date. Our AI PC processors cater to every form factor – from thin-and-light productivity devices to high-performance workstations – all backed by Intel vPro, which sets the industry standard in business computing with unmatched manageability and security."

Intel claims that the new Intel Core Ultra 7 265H processor offers considerable improvements over older models. Compared to a four-year-old Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor, it delivers up to 2.84 times higher multicore performance in Cinebench 2024, up to 1.39 times faster performance in Procyon office productivity tests, and up to 1.97 times faster video editing performance in Procyon tests.

The company has introduced new features to support IT operations. Intel vPro Fleet Services, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution, is set to simplify remote fleet management, reducing the steps required for activation from 24 to six and eliminating the need for on-premises servers. Intel vPro Fleet Services is currently in private preview and will soon be integrated into Microsoft Intune.

Intel continues to be the sole silicon provider to offer hardware security validated against the MITRE ATT&CK framework, which is considered the gold standard for cybersecurity operations.

The Intel Assured Supply Chain (ASC) programme was also introduced, aiming to provide customers with greater transparency and assurance in the silicon manufacturing process. This programme offers a special, digitally attestable chain of custody for each chip, using a dedicated manufacturing pathway through specific production facilities. The Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) processors with this feature will be available in the second half of 2025.

Availability of these new products has been outlined by Intel. Systems powered by the Intel Core Ultra 200V series with the Intel vPro platform are already available, while those powered by the Intel Core Ultra 200U, 200H, 200HX, and 200S series will be shipped by late March 2025. The general availability of Intel vPro Fleet Services is expected soon, with broader access in the coming weeks.
