Wed, 17th Oct 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

The invitations went out yesterday to Apple's press event held next Tuesday, October 23rd. The teaser text 'little more to show you' is most widely rumoured to be the launch event of the 7" iPad Mini. If rumours are to be believed, the iPad Mini will come in 16 different configuration options and will be on shelves from November 2nd. Price points are not yet available for NZ but are expected to be delivered shortly after the event on the 23rd.

In other news, Microsoft's Surface Tablet, for which Microsoft revealed their price points for accidentally on Tuesday via their Microsoft Store. The price points which were a very closely guarded secret are now spreading like wildfire on the net. The 64GB model will be available for US $699 including a touch cover, whilst the most basic 32GB model without a touch cover will be available at US $499 ($599 with cover). This price point puts the most basic model at least NZD ($607) which is $50 NZD more expensive than the basic iPad model which currently ships for NZ $579. This hasn't stopped the Windows 8 RT device selling out on pre-order already - in fact it would appear that the pre-order for the 32GB model sold out within a day in the US.
