Jamf releases major updates including remote screen sharing and M1 support

Apple enterprise management company Jamf has rolled out new IT management functionality to simplify app deployment and updates.

Updates include integration with TeamViewer for remote screen sharing, integration with Jamf Title Editor for additional application lifecycle management capabilities, continued enhancements to Jamf Self Service, and the ability to deploy iOS apps on M1 Mac devices.

The integration with TeamViewer aims to deliver an all-in-one solution for gaining secure remote access to computers and networks. With this release, IT departments can establish remote screen-sharing connections to an end user's computer, viewing exactly what the end-user sees. This enables IT to troubleshoot and resolve issues remotely without negatively impacting worker productivity.

Jamf says the integration with Title Editor enables key customisation features and completes the path of application lifecycle management capabilities for Mondada, the Australian patch management company that Jamf acquired late last year. With the Jamf Title Editor, users can create and manage custom titles and customise how and when to update or deploy an application.

"The newly expanded list of software titles in Jamf App Catalog has allowed us to reduce our curated patch definitions dramatically," says California State University system administrator, Mike Fredette.

"And now with Title Editor, we have an even more streamlined way to include the remaining titles right in Jamf. The savings in time and training to keep us up to date will be of great value to us."

The new Jamf Self Service app catalogue for macOS is designed to be a one-stop-shop, with essential resources, settings and apps for end-users while reducing the number of help tickets for IT teams. New features include backend security improvements, updates to the user interface including dark mode, added accessibility functions like tab control and voice-over, and the ability to search for available app updates.

Jamf Pro now supports iOS App Store apps in the Mac App Store catalogue, allowing IT admins to deploy supported iOS apps to M1-powered Mac devices. Jamf says this capability will be beneficial to customers wanting to unlock the power of iOS apps for all end-users, regardless of the device they're accessing them from.
