La-Z-Boy partners with Fivetran for data-driven structural revamp

Mon, 18th Dec 2023

Global residential furniture expert La-Z-Boy Incorporated has announced its partnership with Fivetran. La-Z-Boy reveals it is utilising Fivetran's data integration platform in efforts to centralise its data, break down data silos, and heighten data-driven decision-making throughout the organisation.

La-Z-Boy, nearing a century in existence, brings a raft of brands under its umbrella, including Joybird and Hammary. The company has a longstanding commitment to providing superior customer experiences and to offering high-quality comfort to people worldwide.

Integral to this endeavour is an efficient and effective data system. With stakeholders across the company reliant on robust data to drive the firm forward, centralising data from company-wide applications is necessary.

La-Z-Boy embarked on this project in early 2022 to modernise its data systems, seeking out Fivetran to provide consistent and efficient information and data access throughout the company.

Fivetran automates data movement out of, into and across cloud data platforms. The company automates the most time-consuming parts of the ELT process, from extracts to schema drift handling to transformations, so that data engineers can focus on higher-impact projects with total pipeline peace of mind.

Selwyn Samuel, Director of Data Analytics and Enterprise Architecture at La-Z-Boy, shared his insights into this strategic move: "Data is the common language that connects many teams and stakeholders across our company."

"Democratising access to data is essential for us as an organisation. With Fivetran helping to power our modern data stack, we're able to centralise data faster and improve access across the company, ultimately allowing us to accelerate data-driven decision-making and better serve our customers," Samuel said.

La-Z-Boy reports seeing considerable returns since modernising its data architecture with Fivetran. With democratised data access, the company's supply chain team has yielded inventory optimisation savings in excess of USD $5 million. This has come alongside a 20% improvement in shipping date accuracy.

Furthermore, the eCommerce team has enhanced its sales order tracking capabilities, providing an improved shopping journey for its customers. La-Z-Boy also affirms that further projects are under development, aiming to implement data-driven efficiency across all business areas, including marketing, merchandising, and demand planning.

Carol Lee, Vice President and Chief Information Officer at La-Z-Boy, commends Fivetran's instrumental role in the progression of their data strategy. "Fivetran's robust data movement capabilities have streamlined the execution of our data strategy. This allows us to swiftly and efficiently empower our business stakeholders with data-driven insights at scale," she said.

Taylor Brown, COO of Fivetran, expressed the platform's pride in supporting a longstanding and renowned brand like La-Z-Boy in its data transformation. "Their trust in our platform is a result of the consistent operational efficiency and cost savings we deliver to our customers. We are proud to provide La-Z-Boy with a strong data foundation that will power their continued growth," Brown remarked.
