Lanas plans to invest NZ$150 million in New Zealand healthcare technology and acquire primary care platform indici, expanding its presence in general practice software.

The investment will be deployed over the next two years as part of a broader push to grow Lanas' healthcare technology operations in the country. After the transaction completes, Lanas' total investment in New Zealand is expected to approach NZ$200 million.

Founded in 2017, indici provides a cloud-based electronic health record and practice management platform for primary care providers. More than 250 healthcare organisations across New Zealand use the system, which supports more than 2 million patient records.

indici will continue to operate with its current team and customer focus, with day-to-day service and support remaining in place after the deal closes. Dr Ahmad Javad will also continue to advise the Lanas team on product strategy.

The acquisition adds a primary care platform to Lanas' New Zealand portfolio, which already includes HealthLink, Toniq and KonnectNET. HealthLink handles lab results and clinical messages for GPs nationwide, Toniq supplies pharmacy software, and KonnectNET digitises insurance medical requests between insurers and GPs.

Digital health push

The move comes as New Zealand's health system increases spending on digital infrastructure and online services. Health New Zealand is building a national Shared Digital Health Record, moving prescribing fully online through the NZ ePrescription Service, and strengthening cybersecurity across primary care. More than $450 million in digital health funding was allocated in Budget 2026.

General practices are also facing workforce pressure, increasing demand for systems that reduce administrative work and give clinicians more time with patients. Lanas intends to work with Health New Zealand, primary health organisations and other parts of the sector on those priorities.

Lanas operates across the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand and launched in 2025. Backed by TA Associates, it employs about 900 people globally, including more than 160 staff in Auckland and Christchurch.

According to company figures, Lanas processes more than 1 billion clinical documents and messages each year across its platforms. More than 40,000 GPs also use its products across both hemispheres.

Howard Beggs, Founder & CEO of Lanas, said the company sees scope for a larger technology role in New Zealand healthcare.

"We have been supporting customers across New Zealand for many years, and we continue to see opportunity for technology to play an even greater role in the future of its healthcare system. New Zealand has a strong track record of embracing digital healthcare and a healthcare sector that is willing to innovate, collaborate and lead. That's one of the reasons we're so excited about deepening our investment here for the long term, starting with the indici transaction. indici has built one of New Zealand's leading primary care platforms, with a strong team, deep expertise and a track record of delivering for customers. We've long admired what Dr Javad and the team have built and we're delighted to welcome them to Lanas. Together with HealthLink, Toniq and KonnectNET, indici further strengthens our presence across New Zealand and broadens the reach of our technology and innovation across the region. It's an important next step in delivering on our long-term plans for the New Zealand market."

For indici, the transaction links a local platform used by general practice providers with a broader regional software group that already has assets in clinical messaging, pharmacy and insurance administration. The arrangement will allow the indici team to stay focused on customers while gaining access to additional investment and group infrastructure.

Dr Javad said the agreement would help continue developing the platform while keeping its current market focus.

"indici has always been focused on helping healthcare professionals deliver better patient care through modern, cloud-based technology. Joining Lanas gives the indici product access to additional investment, expertise and scale while allowing the team to remain focused on our customers. I am excited about what this means for the future of the platform and for New Zealand's healthcare ecosystem."

The transaction is due to complete following the standard regulatory process in New Zealand.
