FYI, this story is more than a year old

Lenovo is ramping up its efforts in the hyper-converged space with a new partnership with Nutanix, which will see the two vendors jointly developing a new family of Lenovo hyper-converged appliances.

The new offerings, specifics of which have yet to be revealed, will utilise Lenovo's enterprise systems and be powered by Nutanix software. The companies say the joint solution ‘will run nearly all workloads, includig enterprise applciations, databases, virtualised desktops and big data analytics, with improved efficiency and scalability.

Nutanix is a key player in the hyper-converged space and Lenovo will be looking to the relationship to help bolster its standing in the market.

Just a matter of months ago, Lenovo inked a similar deal with SimpliVity, another key player in the nascent hyper-converged market.

Lenovo and Nutanix says they are both committed to delivering hyperconvergence infrastructure that enables IT organisations to focus on the applications and services that power, and bring greater agility to, their businesses by offering a compelling alternative to public cloud services.

Lenovo says it is making ‘sizeable investments' in a dedicated skilled global sales team to take advantage of the rapidly growing demand for hyper-convergence platforms.

The combined solution will also be sold through Lenovo channel partners as well as the vendor's broader enterprise sales teams.

“Additionally, Lenovo and Nutanix are planning substantial investments in platform engineering and development, as well as aggressive go-to-market initiatives,” the companies say.

The companies plan to announce specifics of the new solutiosn next month at a data center conference in Las Vegas.
