FYI, this story is more than a year old

Lion Nathan has ‘gone live’ by employing Infor SCM Advanced Planning Optimisation across its seven breweries in Australia, enabling it to greatly reduce the complexity of their logistics and brewery planning operations. For George Bearzot, Logistics Director at Lion Nathan Australia, the complex nature of the company’s operations required a better system.“Our logistics operation is hugely complex. We have multiple breweries, multiple distribution hubs, global imports, hundreds of product lines and produce close to a billion litres of beer for thousands of customers each year,” he says. “We simply couldn’t continue to innovate or grow without sophisticated planning and scheduling tools.”Rolling out Infor has given the overall operation the “visibility to effectively plan and forecast supply months in advance”.James Brackenrig, Infor Vice President, says complexity is part and parcel with an operation the size of Lion Nathan. “They are not unique in this regard but their approach to logistics and operation planning shows the value that the right technology can deliver organisations,” he says. “As we see continuing consolidation in all markets, complexity is only going to increase, as will the need for sophisticated software.”
