Microsoft team skydives from Auckland tower for youth charity

Thu, 20th Nov 2025

Dan Te Whenua Walker, Microsoft Senior Partner Development Manager, is set to take part in a fundraising initiative aimed at supporting youth development in New Zealand. Walker will jump from Auckland's Sky Tower as part of the Drop Your Boss initiative to raise money for the Graeme Dingle Foundation's programmes for children and young people.

Charity support

Walker will join a team of colleagues from Microsoft New Zealand for the annual fundraising event, which has been designed to encourage business leaders to support local youth development through a visible challenge. The jump from 192 metres is intended to bring attention to the foundation's efforts in building resilience, confidence, and life skills among young New Zealanders.

Focus on youth

The Graeme Dingle Foundation delivers a range of programmes such as Kiwi Can, Stars, Career Navigator, and Project K. These aim to equip children and young people - referred to as tamariki and rangatahi - with the tools required for personal growth and positive life outcomes. Funding from the Drop Your Boss event is intended to support the expansion and continued delivery of these services across the country.

Cultural impact

Walker has been recognised for fostering the integration of mātauranga Māori in technology work and for his involvement in community development initiatives. The Drop Your Boss challenge aligns with his focus on empowering young people and creating opportunities for future leaders.

"Being a young person today isn't easy. That's why I'm proud to support the Graeme Dingle Foundation because every dollar raised helps a young person discover that what they have inside is greater than any obstacle," said Walker, Senior Partner Development Manager, Microsoft New Zealand.

Corporate participation

The involvement of Microsoft New Zealand is presented as part of the company's ongoing engagement in community activities. The team's participation underscores a collaborative approach to social impact within the organisation, with a shared objective of equipping the next generation to overcome life's challenges.

Organisational mission

The Graeme Dingle Foundation continues to focus on programmes designed to prepare youth for future challenges and opportunities. Its initiatives are delivered throughout Aotearoa and are managed in partnership with educational institutions and community organisations.
