Mobile players urged by ComCom to talk

Tue, 10th Nov 2009
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Vodafone, Telecom and 2degreees have until tomorrow to decide if they should meet to reach mutual agreement on non-price terms for mobile termination rates. The open letter published on the Commerce Commissions website gives the telcos until 5pm tomorrow to decide if will all get around a table and reach “reciprocity” on some key issues. These include whether fees should be charged minute+second or second+second.Telecom and Vodafone had sort a further workshop on the non-price terms. But in the open letter Telecommunications Commissioner Ross Patterson writes “that a speedy process to address reciprocity in the Revised Undertakings is appropriate before the Commission determines whether a workshop or other process is necessary or what the next and final steps in the MTAS Investigation should be.”If all parties agree to talk, they would need to inform the Commission of any decisions reached by 5pm on Friday 20 November.
