MongoDB expands AI programme with major industry partners

Thu, 5th Dec 2024

MongoDB has announced the expansion of its AI Applications Program (MAAP), with several new industry giants joining the initiative to enhance its offerings in the field of generative AI.

The new participants in the MAAP ecosystem include Capgemini, Confluent, IBM, QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey, and Unstructured. Their involvement is anticipated to provide customers with more integration choices and increase the solutions offered through the program. CentralReach, a provider of AI-powered platforms for autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities, is among the organisations that have already benefited from MAAP.

MongoDB is also working with Meta to integrate support for developers using Meta's Llama models within the MAAP technology stack. This partnership aims to assist both enterprise and public sector customers in building AI-enriched applications. Future developments include implementing mapping from MongoDB's database to LlamaStack APIs, which is expected to facilitate faster and more efficient solution delivery.

Greg Maxson, Senior Director of AI GTM and Strategic Partnerships at MongoDB, stated, "At the beginning of 2024, many organisations saw the immense potential of generative AI, but were struggling to take advantage of this new, rapidly evolving technology. And 2025 is sure to bring more change—and further innovation." He added that the aim of MAAP and partnerships with big industry players is "to empower customers to use their data to build custom AI applications in a scalable, cost-effective way."

Capgemini, a consulting and technology services company, looks forward to playing a crucial role in helping customers implement generative AI solutions. Niraj Parihar, CEO of Insights & Data Global Business Line and Member of the Group Executive Committee at Capgemini, remarked, "Business leaders are increasingly recognising generative AI's value as an accelerator for driving innovation and revenue growth. But the real opportunity lies in moving from ambition to action at scale."

Shaun Clowes, Chief Product Officer at Confluent, highlighted the importance of real-time data in enterprise AI strategy. "Seamlessly integrated with MongoDB and Atlas Vector Search, Confluent's fully managed data streaming platform enables businesses to build the trusted, always-up-to-date data foundation essential for powering gen AI applications," he explained.

Unstructured specialises in ETL for LLMs, and its Founder and CEO, Brian Raymond, expressed enthusiasm about joining MAAP: "Like MongoDB, we understand that data is essential to harnessing the power of gen AI. We are excited to join the MongoDB AI Applications Program to bring our expertise in ingesting and preprocessing complex unstructured data for vector databases."

The MAAP Center of Excellence, comprising highly skilled AI experts from partner organisations, has worked with over 150 organisations across various industries, tackling numerous technical challenges. One notable case is IndiaDataHub, which joined the program to enhance its analytics platform's AI capabilities by integrating with Meta's AI models.

Pranoti Deshmukh, Chief Technology Officer at IndiaDataHub, commented on the collaboration: "Data is the oil that will fuel the growth of the modern Indian economy. Working with MongoDB, the MAAP ecosystem, and Meta's AI tools, we've been able to accelerate our AI strategy to make high-quality, timely data and analytics available to everyone in India who needs it."

Meta's Vice President of Product, Ragavan Srinivasan, observed, "We are thrilled to see how many enterprises are leveraging our open source AI models to build better solutions for their customers and solve the problems their teams are facing everyday."

CentralReach also showcases the impact of MAAP, as it improves its AI-powered electronic medical record platform to enhance outcomes for individuals with autism and related disabilities. Chris Sullens, CEO of CentralReach, noted the benefits of partnership with MongoDB and its MAAP network: "Being able to lean on MongoDBs database technology and draw on the collective expertise of the MAAP partner network...has been invaluable."

The expansion of the MongoDB AI Applications Program coincides with recent technological enhancements, such as vector quantisation in MongoDB Atlas Vector Search, which aim to reduce costs and increase performance. Continued collaborations with other AI companies further extend the programme's flexibility and choice for customers.
