FYI, this story is more than a year old

Sybase and Vasco have both released new capabilties today in hopes of better meeting the needs of enterprise iPhone users.

The Sybase iPhone capabilities enable secure device management, rich application development, and a mobile banking solution, all of which enable organisations to adopt the iPhone as a strategic platform.

In a statement, Sybase SVP and CMO said: “As an increasing number of consumers bring personal smartphones into the enterprise, there is a greater need to extend high levels of application performance, functionality and security to a wider range of mobile devices. Sybase continues to deliver the technology that customers require to fully embrace mobility within their enterprises.”

The company’s Afaria provides device management and policy enforcement for the iPhone, SQL Anywhere is scalable and includes database and synchronization technology and Sybase announced availability of its mobile banking iPhone app through the mBanking 365 platform.

Security company Vasco also announced that its Digipass for Mobile is available for the iPhone and the iPod Touch, which is an authentication solution that leverages the internet-enabled device for authentication and signature purposes in m-banking, e-banking, eCommerce and enterprise security. The Digipass for Mobile app can be downloaded from the App Store.
