MultiversX supports Helios Collabathon to unify blockchain ID

Wed, 2nd Oct 2024

MultiversX has declared its support for the Helios Collabathon, an initiative spearheaded by Helios Staking. The event sought to foster collaboration over competition in the realm of product development.

The Collabathon, which also received backing from the MultiversX Foundation, Hatom, XOXNO, and the Injective Foundation, brought together 14 prominent Web3 builders to address key challenges in the industry, particularly regarding user identity management across multiple blockchains.

During the Collabathon, participants dedicated over 384 hours to develop 'Helios Connect', a new decentralised application (dApp). According to the project's announcement, Helios Connect aims to address user fragmentation by enabling a unified identity across different blockchain networks. This dApp has been launched as a minimum viable product (MVP) with smart contracts deployed on both the Injective and MultiversX blockchains.

Helios Connect is described as a pioneering cross-chain wallet verification and identity management tool. By allowing users to manage a singular identity across various blockchain networks, it aims to address one of the significant issues in the decentralised ecosystem. Its open-source nature is intended to promote broader adoption and integration into a range of cross-chain use cases, from governance applications to tax tools, ticketing, and anti-scam measures. The project's documentation and related content have been made publicly available, ensuring the product's usability and visibility.

The Collabathon also included networking events and four workshops conducted by industry experts such as Robert Sasu, Core Developer of MultiversX; Joan, Product Manager of Injective Labs; Alex Radu, CEO of Astrarizon; and Sergi & Jose, Founders of Moonlorian. These sessions aimed to foster innovation and share knowledge among the participants.

Robert Sasu expressed his admiration for the achievements of the Collabathon: "I am truly impressed by how much the team accomplished in just 10 days, proving how this Collabathon can bring viable products with real use cases to market whilst sparking innovation between communities."

Kevin Lydon, Co-founder and Managing Director of Helios Staking, also highlighted the success of the Collabathon: "The Helios Collabathon has proven to be a huge success, not only in achieving our technological goals but also in creating a spirit of collaboration. We are looking forward to developing the concept further and pushing the boundaries of what is currently thought possible."

The commitment to open-source development is a significant element of Helios Connect, which is envisaged to function as a foundational tool for numerous applications that enhance connectivity between different blockchain ecosystems. This initiative aligns with MultiversX Foundation's broader goals to promote innovation, accelerate blockchain adoption, and support ecosystem growth by backing meaningful products that benefit the entire Web3 community.
