NetApp deal targets IT footprints
NetApp has integrated its unified storage systems with Symantec’s Thin Reclamation API to help SAN customers improve storage efficiency.
The solution aims to give customers the ability to manage, reduce, and reclaim storage space throughout the data lifecycle, which can reduce IT footprints and management costs.
Don Angspatt, Vice President of Product Management, Storage and Availability Management Group, Symantec, explained, “The integration of Veritas Storage Foundation with NetApp’s storage solutions enables IT organisations to proactively plan their storage environment, improve storage utilisation rates, and get the most value from their data center investments.”
Patrick Rogers, VP of Solutions and Alliances at NetApp, added, “NetApp storage gives customers storage efficiency capabilities that go beyond thin provisioning, deduplication on primary storage, and default RAID-DP.
“By working with Symantec and integrating our storage with Veritas Storage Foundation, we continue to break new ground in what is possible with IT efficiency. The principle is to provide leading efficiency without any compromise on flexibility, simplicity, and performance.”
