New CISO for Zscaler to lead Asia Pacific and A/NZ

By Shannon Williams
Thu 17 Feb 2022

Heng Mok has been appointed as the new chief information security officer (CISO) for Asia Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand, for cloud security firm ZScaler.

Based in Melbourne, Heng Mok will be supporting organisations in the Asia Pacific region with their digital transformation journey as they adopt the cloud, AI, data analytics, and remote working.

Mok joins Zscaler with more than 20 years of experience working on some of Australia's largest IT transformation programs across a range of industries, including financial services, government, and telecommunications. He also has broad security experience across several disciplines including, risk management, compliance, technical design, infrastructure security, architectural processes, application security, security architecture, and strategy.

Most recently, Mok was CISO at AGL Australia, Australia's largest integrated energy company. During his more than five years with the company, he was responsible for architecting their cybersecurity strategy and delivering the board-funded business case to uplift overall cyber maturity to support digital transformation and agile working methods.

Mok also previously worked in principal security architect and consulting roles with NAB, ANZ, and IAG and earlier on in his career was also senior consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

"I'm thrilled to have Heng join the team and look forward to the positive impact he will have in helping us scale throughout the APJ region, sharing his deep expertise in cybersecurity, data governance, risk, cloud, AI, data analytics, remote working, and digital transformation," says Kavitha Mariappan, executive vice president, customer experience & transformation at Zscaler.

Mok adds, "I am excited to join Zscaler at this pivotal time when the company is innovating at a rapid pace.

"At the same time, the company has incredible opportunities for innovation in 2022 and beyond, resulting from last year's acquisitions of Smokescreen for cyber security deploy capabilities and TrustDome for Cloud Infrastructure Entitlement Management," he says.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                "I'm also looking forward to working with customers on deploying our new capabilities for digital experience monitoring, including support for Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and ServiceNow as well as extending Zero Trust enforcement for users to cloud workloads and applications," Mok says.

"Finally, it is also an honour to join a company whose Net Promoter Score is more than 2.5 times the average NPS score of a SaaS company."

Zscaler also announced the appointment of Paul Eccleston as the vice president of international for partners and alliances for EMEA and APAC.

The company says Eccleston's appointment will accelerate the growth of the Zscaler channel organisation in the Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia Pacific regions.

In his new role, Eccleston takes responsibility for all channel segments and will lead and grow a world-class channel team to build successful relationships with the service provider, system integrator, value added reseller, MSP & alliance partner ecosystem in EMEA and APAC.
