NTT DATA & Google Cloud expand AI partnership in APAC

Tue, 5th Nov 2024

NTT DATA and Google Cloud have announced the expansion of their strategic partnership to enhance the adoption of cloud-based data analytics and generative AI solutions across the Asia Pacific region.

The partnership aims to combine NTT DATA's technology expertise and its extensive client base of large enterprises with Google Cloud's capabilities in data analytics, artificial intelligence, and cloud services. The collaboration is set to empower businesses to drive innovation, improve operational efficiency, and boost agility through bespoke cloud-based data and AI solutions tailored to specific industry needs.

A key development in the partnership is the establishment of a dedicated NTT DATA Google Cloud Business Unit. This unit will focus on creating joint solutions with an emphasis on data analytics and generative AI. It will also provide enhanced support for applications, modern infrastructure, cybersecurity, and SAP on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

To support the effective implementation of these solutions, the partnership will enhance NTT DATA's in-house expertise in Google Cloud technologies through advanced training and certification programmes. The company plans to upskill and hire sales, pre-sales, and delivery professionals specialising in Google Cloud solutions, with the goal of certifying at least 1,000 more professionals in the Asia Pacific region, adding to their current 2,600 Google-certified engineers worldwide.

According to market research firm Gartner, Inc., global end-user spending on public cloud services is forecast to reach USD $679 billion in 2024 and surpass USD $1 trillion by 2027. Generative AI deployments across industries are anticipated to further drive the demand for modern cloud infrastructure, making this strategic partnership a significant move for meeting evolving market needs in the Asia Pacific, with plans for a broader global roll-out in the future.

John Lombard, Chief Executive Officer of NTT DATA, APAC, stated, "This expanded partnership brings together NTT DATA's expertise in digital transformation and deep-rooted understanding of APAC's diverse markets with Google Cloud's unparalleled AI and cloud innovations. This isn't just about adopting new technologies; it's about reimagining what's possible for businesses in the AI age. Our partner ecosystem is a cornerstone of our growth strategy, and this collaboration with Google Cloud is expected to grow our cloud business in APAC by 10x+ in 3 years."

Karan Bajwa, Vice President of Google Cloud, APAC, commented, "Customer confidence is paramount to deliver on their digital transformation aspirations, and NTT DATA's comprehensive portfolio, coupled with a deep understanding of evolving customer needs across Asia Pacific, perfectly complements Google Cloud's AI leadership and innovative solutions. Together, we're not just providing technology, we're building trust and delivering exceptional outcomes for customers as they accelerate their digital transformation journeys."

Charlie Li, Senior Executive Vice President, Global Head of Cloud and Security Services, NTT DATA, highlighted the significance of the collaboration, saying, "Our expanded partnership with Google Cloud is a significant step forward in delivering innovative solutions that address the industry-specific challenges our customers are facing. By combining NTT DATA's unique full-stack transformation portfolio with Google Cloud's next-generation technologies, we are poised to accelerate our client's digital modernization priorities, particularly in areas like cloud, GenAI, and cybersecurity."

Generative AI's success depends on high-quality data, making robust data analytics capabilities fundamental. An example of the partnership's potential is seen with a major retailer assisted by NTT DATA's technologies and Google's data analytics, leading to a 22% increase in digital inquiries and an 85% rise in occupancy through effective use of extracted API data.
