NZ misses out on Unisys solution

It’s on the market to 30 million Latin American subscribers, but a Unisys voice to text application developed in Wellington is not available here.

Unisys New Zealand Architect Director Sachin Shangapawar says the research centre, which was founded in 1994 and employs 25 people, only has one telco client locally, TelstraClear.

Unisys mainly sell solutions for the fixed-line arm of the TelstraClear. The telco in the process transitioning from Telecom to Vodafone as its mobile provider.

The voice to text service (which transcribes voice messages and makes them available as texts) is just one service developed in NZ and being deployed worldwide. Others include: Voice Messaging, Next Generation Notification Services (NGNS) solutions, Call Me Now, Never Lost Call and iPhone Visual Voice Mail. The centre’s clients are: Vodafone Australia, TelstraClear NZ, Telefonica Moviles (Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Nicaragua and others), ComCel Columbia (America Moviles Group), Anatel Urugay, Europe and MEA (Middle East and Africa) region, Orange UK, Centertel Poland, Telekom SA, Mobinil Egypt and Orange Cameroon.
