NZ tops virtualisation says VMware
The virtualisation message is as strong in New Zealand as it is anywhere in the world, says VMware ANZ Managing Director Paul Harapin.“New Zealand is one of the most, if not the most, virtualised countries in the world,” he explains, adding that New Zealand had also been one of the best performing territories globally for VMware. After a successful year bringing virtualisation to the fore in New Zealand, there are three key areas of focus for VMware leading into the new year, says Harapin.Spearheading this is the company’s V802 campaign, whereby VMware aims to get 80% of existing clients up to 80% virtualization in their environments, he says.Following the V802, Harapin says the management and automation of virtualisation as well as desktop virtualisation are the other key points VMware is focusing on leading into 2010, he says. These factors combined have led to a need for senior management on the ground in New Zealand, he says. This senior management role has been handed to Wellington-based corporate account manager Tim Dacombe-Bird, who has been promoted into the newly formed New Zealand Regional Manager role.Dacombe-Bird will officially begin his new role on January 1, and he will report directly to Harapin.
