Customers can "confidently migrate" to the latest Office platform, says Open Text of its strategy to embrace Office and SharePoint.

Open Text and Microsoft have been working closely together on this strategy since 2005, says the company.

“With Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010, Microsoft has continued to boost user productivity, further ensuring that companies will want to centre their business applications on the Microsoft user interface, allowing easy ways to access Open Text’s advanced ECM platform,” said Brian Donaldson, Vice President, Microsoft Solutions and Ecosystem at Open Text. “We help make that possible by allowing decision makers and information workers to work in their comfortable Microsoft environment while giving them access to all enterprise content from all sources including social networking, Web and digital media.”

Open Text products for Microsoft are said to help companies address the growing volume of electronic information and ensure compliance and content security.

“The combination of Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 and the Open Text ECM Suite provide new ways for people to work better together, meet regulatory requirements and manage content enterprise wide,” added Ryan Duguid, Senior Product Manager on the Enterprise Content Management Team at Microsoft Corp. “Open Text complements SharePoint Server 2010, extending the out of box ECM capabilities with ECM solutions targeting a range of vertical industries and specialised requirements such as DoD certification.”

Yesterday Microsoft announced the official release of Office 2010.
