OpenText named ‘leader’ in Gartner Magic Quadrant
Enterprise Information Management (EIM) provider OpenText has announced that it has been positioned as a leader in Gartner's 2017 Magic Quadrant for Content Services Platforms.
Part of the OpenText EIM platform, OpenText says its content services help organisations connect content to their digital business and transform process productivity, personal productivity, and control.
Mark Barrenechea, OpenText Vice-Chairman, CEO - CTO says, "Information is at the heart of all digital processes. The evolution of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) to content services, as a way to manage and integrate this information, is paramount to a successful digital transformation strategy.
"OpenText has made significant investments across our content services during the past year, and by adding leading platforms such as Documentum to our portfolio, and embedding content services in our applications, OpenText continues to innovate, evolve and grow with the market.
OpenText Content Services adhere to the Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) standard and supports a broad range of operating systems, databases, application servers, and enterprise applications.
On the 'Content Services Platforms' quadrant, the report notes, "Content Services Platform (CSP) vendors are recasting ECM in terms of a service-oriented architecture.
"A CSP has the flexibility to support existing and emerging content use cases. It has its own repository but should also be able to integrate external repositories through connectors, APIs or packaged integrations. Today, many CSPs can be deployed on-premises, in the cloud or in hybrid architectures.
The Gartner report also states that cloud, social collaboration, mobile and analytics technologies have transformed demands and expectations for content in digital business, with businesses needing to adapt and take advantage of these demands.
It says the variety and volume of content, and thus its importance continues to grow and IT business leaders are increasingly using this content to complement or even drive digital business processes.
