OWC launches Envoy Ultra Thunderbolt 5 SSD with speeds over 6000MB/s

Other World Computing (OWC) has unveiled its latest product, the Envoy Ultra Thunderbolt 5 SSD, designed to enhance the performance of Mac and PC devices equipped with Thunderbolt 5, Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, and USB4 ports. The new SSD is known for its high-speed data transfer capabilities, surpassing 6000MB/s, which is twice as fast as Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 standards.

The company highlights several key features of the Envoy Ultra Thunderbolt 5 SSD, including its speed, versatility, and durable design. It is capable of handling everyday data needs as well as professional-level creative projects without compromising internal storage performance. Furthermore, the device is compatible with various operating systems and devices, including Macs, PCs, iPad Pros, Chromebooks, and Surface devices. Other notable features include water resistance, dust resistance, crushproof build, and fanless, heat-dissipating aluminium design. The device is bus-powered and includes a built-in Thunderbolt cable for added convenience.

The Envoy Ultra Thunderbolt 5 SSD will be available in two capacities, 2.0TB and 4.0TB, with prices set at USD $399.99 and USD $599.99, respectively. The device is currently available for pre-order and is expected to start shipping in late October.

Additionally, OWC announced the general availability of the OWC Thunderbolt 5 (USB-C) Cable. This cable is designed to deliver the full potential of Thunderbolt 5 technology, offering bi-directional data speeds of up to 80Gb/s and higher display bandwidth needs of up to 120Gb/s. The cable is compatible with various devices, including those equipped with Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4, USB4, and USB-C ports.

Pricing for the OWC Thunderbolt 5 (USB-C) cables varies by length. They are available in lengths of 0.3m, 0.8m, and 1.0m and are priced at USD $22.99, USD $27.99, and USD $39.99, respectively.

Both the Envoy Ultra Thunderbolt 5 SSD and the OWC Thunderbolt 5 (USB-C) Cable will be showcased at IBC2024, which will take place from September 13 to 16 at the Auditorium Complex at the RAI in Amsterdam.
