Mon, 21st Oct 2024

A leadership change is taking place at Wellington-based digital agency Effect, with Pete Lister set to assume the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Effect has become known for delivering digital solutions across New Zealand, working with notable entities such as the Ministry for the Environment, Maritime New Zealand, Land Air Water Aotearoa, Massey University, and various local councils. The agency has also been involved with Civil Defense Emergency Management groups, contributing to digital initiatives that aid community protection and assure reliable services during critical periods.

On 1st November, Pete Lister will officially take over as CEO, following his tenure as Chief Operating Officer since July 2022. During his year-long stint as COO, Pete substantially influenced the company's operational and strategic restructuring. Under his leadership, the company experienced significant growth, expanding its team threefold and increasing its revenue by 50% year-on-year. His background includes leadership roles at Silverstripe, MetService, and New Zealand Post, where he gained expertise in digital strategy and business transformation.

Pete's vision for Effect's future involves broadening the company's capabilities in Umbraco and Microsoft technologies. His prior emergency management experience is expected to enhance Effect's ability to deliver secure digital solutions to government sectors. "As we move forward, I'm excited to embrace Effect's vision of crafting technology that matters and build upon the strong foundation Jonno has laid," Pete commented. "Together with the talented team at Effect, we're ready to take on new challenges and continue delivering outstanding digital solutions for our clients."

In addition to Pete's ascension to CEO, Edel Sweeney-Lee will be appointed Chief Customer Officer from November. Since joining Effect in January 2023, Edel has significantly impacted client engagement and business development. Her promotion acknowledges her capabilities in driving client-first strategies and her dedication to client success. "Effect is in great hands," affirmed Jonathon Alsop, departing founder and CEO. "Pete's experience and leadership have sharpened our strategic vision, allowing the whole team to thrive and excel. Edel's passion for client advocacy has concentrated efforts on ensuring lasting success for our clients. I'm confident that together, they'll continue to deliver the creative and high-quality outcomes that our clients have come to expect."

Effect remains committed to its client-focused philosophy despite these leadership changes. Both Pete and Edel possess complementary expertise that is expected to drive the company forward while maintaining its culture of creative and client-centric solutions. "This leadership transition marks an exciting new chapter in Effect's evolution. With Pete and Edel at the helm, Effect is poised to reach new heights in delivering innovative and impactful digital solutions," Jonathon added.

Jonathon will not sever ties with the company entirely, as he will continue to support Effect in his new position as Chair of the Board, offering guidance as the company navigates its growth trajectory.
