Polycom has closed its acquisition of HP’s visual collaboration unit, including the Halo network, and confirmed it will be the exclusive provider of HP’s teleconferencing products.

Announced in June and worth US$89 million, the deal will also see Polycom’s video applications made available for HP’s webOS operating system, to be launched in New Zealand this month with the TouchPad tablet.

"Polycom is excited to close this acquisition,” says Andrew Miller, president and CEO of Polycom, "and we welcome Halo customers to Polycom.

"HP has enormous global reach, and our broadened relationship with the company is another important step in meeting Polycom’s commitment to bring the most advanced and innovative UC solutions to market.

Miller adds that Polycom and HP also share a strategic alignment with tech giant Microsoft.
