FYI, this story is more than a year old

Teleconferencing giant, Polycom, announced today its new UC Intelligent Core software, aimed at facilitating connections between any device, standard or network.

"The UC Intelligent Core technology is the heart of unified communications and a key component of our UC Everywhere vision," said Sudhakar Ramakrishna, Polycom chief development officer.

The new release enabled the company's UC Intelligent Core solution to support up to 75,000 devices, from mobile devices to room-based telepresence solutions.

The UC Intelligent Core platform established 'universal bridging', using the cloud, to allow users to connect to devices regardless of protocols, devices, networks or locations. Polycom said native integration would allow customers to connect two separate communication platforms, such as Lync and video telepresence.

Earlier this month, Polycom announced it would team with other major telecom service providers to establish an open video exchange called the Open Visual Communication Consortium in an effort to promote operability across platforms.
