Pressure builds on Microsoft to reveal WP7 figures
Thu, 9th Dec 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Charlie Kindel, General Manager of the Windows Phone 7 developer ecosystem, dodged repeated questions about how the new mobile platform is doing at the LeWeb Conference in Paris this week.

LeWeb Founder Loic Le Meur asked multiple times for sales figures, but Kindel wouldn't answer any, choosing instead to just stick with the line that Microsoft plans to sell lots of phones in 2011.

He refused to even hint at the numbers, reports Mashable.

In early November market researchers suggested that Microsoft had moved just 40,000 units. When we contacted Microsoft New Zealand we were told that the company wouldn't give out figures.

All we got was, “We are very happy with how sales have been going and are well on track to meet Windows Phone targets in New Zealand this financial year.

However, Microsoft was very quick to crow about the great start Xbox Kinect got off to in the face of Sony's rival 'Move' technology. The firm rushed out releases saying three million units had been sold in its first 25 days of release.

It looks like a different strategy is in place for Windows Phone 7.
