Yesterday

Progress has announced the Q4 2024 release of its Telerik and Kendo UI component libraries, enhancing the design-to-code handoff process and integrating support for .NET 9 and Angular 19.

The update aims to augment design operations with over 70 new Page Templates and Building Blocks. These additions, preconfigured with Telerik UI for Blazor, Kendo UI for Angular, and KendoReact components, are designed to expedite application design and development. This is intended to aid developers regardless of whether they have dedicated design support, allowing these components to be integrated into existing design systems as reusable assets.

Loren Jarrett, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Digital Experience at Progress, expressed enthusiasm about the release: "We are excited to continue to push the envelope of the design-to-code capabilities available on the market today. With this release of Telerik and Kendo UI, we're taking design-to-developer automation to the next level, addressing critical challenges in the design-to-code process and providing day-zero support for the latest .NET and JavaScript frameworks. Our products continue to evolve ahead of technology trends, enabling developers to stay at the forefront of what is needed to deliver great digital experiences that drive business outcomes."

Further enhancements include broader styling options via the Progress ThemeBuilder, which enables designers and developers to style any HTML element and convert Figma components into HTML. This development aims to streamline UI customisation and reduce the amount of CSS work required.

John Yang, Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan, highlighted the benefits of the advancements: "We're thrilled to announce the latest advancements in Telerik and Kendo UI, which empower developers to seamlessly transform designs into functional code. By leveraging the latest technologies and frameworks, our tools streamline the development process and accelerate time to market. This enables developers to deliver exceptional digital experiences that drive business success."

The release shows a commitment to embracing the latest technologies. It ensures day-zero compatibility with .NET 9 and Angular 19. Additionally, it introduces support for Angular hybrid standalone components and integration of KendoReact components with Astro for a smoother development experience when building modern UIs.

The update also delivers enhanced data visualisation and reporting features to meet complex application requirements. A notable inclusion is the DataGrid-Chart Integration feature in Kendo UI, which allows users to create various chart types directly from Grid selections and other data-bound components. Thus, data visualisation and decision-making speed are improved. Further improvements to reporting capabilities include right-to-left text support in Skia-based rendering and simplified web service integration.

The release continues to enhance the enterprise development experience by adding new features and components to the Telerik and Kendo UI libraries. It focuses on improving productivity for business app development and encompasses data grid enhancements and new components for Telerik UI for Blazor and Telerik UI for MAUI.

The Q4 2024 Developer Tools release is now available. It provides developers with an updated suite of tools to build modern user experiences efficiently.
