Qualys unveils SaaS protection with TotalCloud 2.0 upgrade
Fri, 9th Feb 2024

Qualys Inc, the pioneer in cloud-based IT, security and compliance solutions, has unveiled a significant upgrade to its AI-powered cloud native application protection platform (CNAPP) - TotalCloud 2.0. The upgraded platform extends its protection to SaaS applications, the first of its kind in the industry, and provides a singular, prioritised view of cloud risk.

TotalCloud 2.0 aligns unique indicators from a range of Qualys sources such as Cloud Workload Protection (CWP), Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), and Cloud Detection and Response (CDR). It aggregates these elements with SaaS and infrastructure stances to empower organisations to remedy the most damaging threats expeditiously.

The rise of multi-cloud and SaaS environments have offered organizations remarkable potential for innovation and agility, but also pose complex security challenges. Adoption of a multitude of security tools, each providing varying and sometimes contradictory perspectives on an organization's risk level, has become common. This scenario creates a challenge for organizations, impeding effective risk prioritization, reporting and remediation.

"Efficiently managing risk and responding quickly to threats or attacks on cloud workloads is challenging for organizations,” remarked Melinda Marks, practice director, Cybersecurity at Enterprise Strategy Group. "Qualys TotalCloud 2.0 provides a unified platform to identify and consolidate all cloud data across diverse multi-cloud environments, offering broader visibility and context for efficient remediation of security issues. This approach fosters improved collaboration among security, IT, and development teams, enabling efficient risk mitigation and protection of business-critical applications."

In addition to cloud and infrastructure protection, TruRisk Insights, a part of TotalCloud 2.0, integrates with SaaS applications thus allowing companies to identify and address risk exposure through these platforms. This new feature is particularly pertinent in light of recent SEC regulation that mandates all public companies to divulge cyber incidents and meet cybersecurity readiness requirements for data in SaaS systems. This enhanced service can help companies in achieving compliance.

"Qualys TotalCloud enables us to holistically secure our cloud environment by providing insights into our risk exposure. It brings together and analyzes vulnerability and posture assessment and threat mitigation data, so we can quickly identify and mitigate the most critical issues,” expressed Rodrigo Herrera Villaln, head of application security, Banco BCI.

"TotalCloud 2.0 silences the noise from disparate security tools, offering a clear, prioritized view of risk across multi-cloud, SaaS applications, and assets. This ensures swift resolution of critical issues, dramatically reducing the organization's risk," said Sumedh Thakar, president and CEO of Qualys.

The upgraded platform also features operationalized risk reduction techniques that streamline operations and eliminate barriers between IT and security departments. TotalCloud 2.0 with TruRisk Insights is currently available for free trials.
