FYI, this story is more than a year old

Rackspace Hosting has announced its Australian data center is now open for business, topping twelve months of growth and rapid hiring for the IT hosting company.

After launching the data center in August last year, the company made a double recruitment in the run up to the opening - employing a Data Center Manager and a Network Security Engineer.

As reported by TechDay at the time, Peter MacGee, will head the facility in Sydney, with Chad McCathie tasked with the security role.

“2012 has been an incredible year of growth and rapid hiring for Rackspace Australia and we are thrilled to switch on our newest data center,” says Mark Randall, director, Rackspace ANZ.

“The opening of the Rackspace data center fulfills significant local demand for managed virtualisation platforms, while also being ready for our Open Cloud launch based on OpenStack, coming later in 2013.”

The new multi-million dollar investment, located at Erskine Park in Western Sydney, will support the company’s ongoing growth in Australia.

Becoming part of Rackspace’s international data center footprint, the data center joins other facilities in Dallas, Chicago, Virginia, London, and Hong Kong.
