Recast & System Centre Dudes launch free Intune tools
Recast and System Centre Dudes have launched a joint initiative focused on free tools for Microsoft Intune built by Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals from around the world.
The two companies said the work centres on community-built utilities that address routine administration tasks in Intune, Microsoft's cloud-based endpoint management service. The initiative also includes a four-part webinar series that features Microsoft MVPs demonstrating their tools and outlining operational use cases.
Community focus
Recast sells software for endpoint and application management and positions its products alongside Microsoft Intune and Configuration Manager. System Centre Dudes operates as a consulting firm focused on Microsoft Enterprise Mobility technologies. The company began as a blog focused on System Centre Configuration Manager and later expanded into consulting services.
The collaboration between Recast and System Centre Dudes began in October, according to the companies. They said they have worked on customer engagements related to the design, deployment and optimisation of Microsoft endpoint environments.
The companies framed the new initiative around day-to-day management work. They highlighted the role of independent tools created by MVPs, who are recognised by Microsoft for their technical community contributions.
"Organisations migrating to Intune face a complex landscape, but thanks to the innovation of Microsoft MVPs, there is a growing ecosystem of community-driven tools to guide them," said Will Teevan, CEO, Recast.
"As the companion for Intune, we're committed to supporting IT professionals and elevating their impact by providing free resources like the Community Edition of Right Click Tools and OSDCloud. Our partnership with System Centre Dudes is a testament to our shared dedication to the IT community," said Teevan.
System Centre Dudes linked the effort to systems administration workflows and security practices.
"The tools developed by Microsoft MVPs are game changers for systems administrators, enabling them to work more securely and productively every day," said Benoit Lecours, Co-Founder, System Centre Dudes.
"We're proud to partner with Recast to spotlight these resources and provide expert guidance that helps organizations confidently manage their IT environments," said Lecours.
Webinar programme
The webinar series is titled "Community Tools for Intune from MVPs Around the Globe". Each session features a different Microsoft MVP and covers a set of tasks that IT teams commonly handle in Intune deployments.
Recast and System Centre Dudes listed topics including the use of agents for identifying and resolving errors, management of multi-tenant environments, comparison of Intune policies across tenants or against baselines, and backup and restore approaches aimed at reducing configuration drift.
The first session features Sandy Zeng, described as an MVP in Security, Windows and Devices. She will present her IntuneDiff tool. The second session features Jannik Reinhard, described as an MVP in Security and Azure AI Foundry. He will announce the release of a new agent for Intune.
The third session features Andrew Taylor, described as an MVP in Security. He will cover four free tools he has created for the Intune community. The final session features David Segura, described as an MVP in Microsoft Azure. He will discuss tools he uses that relate to user experience in Intune environments.
Tools mentioned
Recast cited the Community Edition of Right Click Tools and OSDCloud as examples of free resources referenced in the initiative. Right Click Tools is a Recast product line associated with administrative actions for Microsoft management platforms. OSDCloud is known in the Microsoft management community as an open-source approach to operating system deployment workflows.
System Centre Dudes said its consulting work covers Microsoft Enterprise Mobility technologies including Configuration Manager, Intune, Autopilot, Entra ID and Defender. The company also sells the SCD Reporting Suite and Power BI dashboards, alongside installation and configuration guides.
The companies said the sessions will present practical demonstrations of tools and workflows for Intune administrators, with MVPs discussing how they use their utilities in real-world administration scenarios.
